Transfield has a tradition of arts benefaction spanning half a century. In 1961 Franco Belgiorno-Nettis launched The Transfield Art Prize to promote up and coming Australian artists. He later founded the Biennale of Sydney, which Transfield continues to support as founding partner.Additional sponsorships include Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sculpture by the Sea and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Transfield Holdings has maintained a grassroots involvement with the development of the arts in Australia. In addition to its major sponsorships, the company acquires works by graduate student artists for display at Campus Living Villages’ properties.

In 2007 Edmund Capon, Director of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, said the following:
‘I think the most important contribution to the arts that Franco Belgiorno-Nettis and, through his leadership, the family, have made to the arts may be summarised in a single word - inspiration. What Franco did was to make the arts an essential and invigorating part of daily and corporate life and he supported the arts with his own special brand of enthusiasm simply because he believed the arts to be creative and thus the source of ideas - as he said, “before any great work of production there has to be an idea”. Both the family and the company have followed in the inspirational footsteps of Franco in supporting the arts with the same belief, commitment and enthusiasm.’
