Group Taxation Manager
Cathy is the Group Taxation Manager of Transfield Holdings and is responsible for all taxation advisory, reporting, compliance and regulatory aspects for the Transfield Group and the Campus Living Villages Fund.
Cathy has 17 years experience in providing strategic tax advice for Australian and multinational groups.
Cathy's expertise lies not only in providing tax advice on complex taxes issues involving GST and stamp duty but also in providing assistance and high level tax advice in relation to major projects involving due diligence processes, mergers, acquisitions, divestments, re-organisations and transaction execution.
Cathy has had direct involvement in the preparation and provision of tax advice for Initial Public Officers (IPOs) and Product Disclosure Statements (PDSs) and most recently has advised on the Australian and international tax aspects for a number of listed and wholesale property funds and managed all taxation aspects for an Australian listed property group across a range of transactions in Australasia, the United Kingdom, Europe and North America.
Previously Cathy held the position of Group Taxation Manager of Multiplex Limited (MXL), a top 100 Australian listed stapled property trust and property corporate group, comprising Multiplex Limited and the Multiplex Property Trust.
MXL was involved in construction, engineering, property development, infrastructure, facilities and funds management businesses with significant international operations throughout Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, India, the Middle East as well as a presence in a number of other countries. During Cathy's tenure at MXL, MXL had over 1,200 entities in its corporate group with complex tax effective business structures and funding arrangements.
MXL has since been taken over by Brookfield Management Limited, a company listed on the Canadian Stock Exchange.
Prior to her position at MXL, Cathy held the positions of Corporate Tax Partner at Deloitte and Senior Corporate Taxation Advisor at Ernst & Young.
Cathy was responsible for a number of major clients at both Deloitte and Ernst & Young. Cathy's client bases were diverse and exposed Cathy to complex tax issues across a number of different sectors including communications, media, technology, manufacturing, shipping, construction, entertainment and financial services.
Cathy is currently a member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Taxation Institute of Australia and the NSW Property Council. Cathy has previously participated in a number of tax discussion groups where selection has been via invitation only and whose members have included a mixture of both tax and legal professionals.
