Cathy Thomson

General Manager - Finance & Tax

Cathy is the Group General Manager, Finance & Tax and is responsible for the taxation, reporting, compliance and regulatory affairs for the Transfield Group and the Campus Living Villages Fund.

Cathy has 21 years of operational and strategic tax experience in Australian and multinational companies. She specialises in providing high level tax advice to major projects involving due diligence, mergers and acquisitions, divestments and company re-structures. Cathy’s experience includes direct involvement in the preparation and provision of tax advice for Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and Product Disclosure Statements (PDSs). Most recently she has advised on complex Australian and international tax issues for an Australian listed property group across a range of transactions in Australasia, the United Kingdom, Europe and North America.

Prior to joining Transfield Holdings in 2007 Cathy was the Group Taxation Manager of Multiplex Limited from 2003 to 2007 and was involved in managing over 1,200 entities in its corporate group. Cathy was Corporate Tax Partner at Deloitte from 1997 to 2003 and Senior Corporate Taxation Advisor at Ernst & Young from 1990 to 1997. Cathy was responsible for major clients at both firms in the communications, media, technology, manufacturing, shipping, construction, entertainment and financial services sectors.

Cathy has a Bachelor of Economics and an LLB from Macquarie University. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Taxation Institute of Australia and the NSW Property Council.
