Chris Bland
General Counsel
Chris is an experienced in-house lawyer and management executive who joined Transfield in 1992 and was appointed General Counsel in 2003. He is responsible for leading Transfield’s legal team which provides strategic and operational corporate support services across the Transfield portfolio.
Chris has over 26 years of legal experience as a property and commercial transaction lawyer in the United Kingdom (UK) and Australia. Prior to joining Transfield Chris worked for DLA Piper from 1985 to 1987 and for Ashurst, a commercial law firm in London from 1988 to 1992. Since joining Transfield Chris has directly supported the negotiation and implementation of investment transactions involving Transfield Services Limited, Charter Hall Limited, ADI Limited, Sydney Harbour Tunnel and Perisher Blue Ski Fields.
Chris has also led infrastructure project development transactions including the AUD$650m Walsh Bay re-development project, all of the group's recent major corporate and limited recourse project financings including for Campus Living Villages and Century Campus Housing Management. Most recently Chris helped spearhead Transfield’s investment in Novatec Solar.
Chris was a Director of Campus Living Villages Pty Limited, the main operating company for CLV’s student accommodation business from 2008 to 2010.
He has an LLB from Nottingham University (UK) and is qualified to practice as a solicitor in both NSW and the UK.
