Nicholas James

Chief Financial Officer

Nicholas joined Transfield Holdings as Chief Financial Officer in 2005. He has led and supported a range of transactions in property, infrastructure and student accommodation since joining the company. Nicholas is responsible for contributing to the strategic direction of the company and the financial management frameworks of Transfield Holdings incorporating the areas of finance, audit, tax and treasury.

Nicholas has 30 years of global financial experience in investment banking, investment management and finance. He was with Deutsche Bank in London from 2004 to 2005, with Macquarie Bank from 1993 to 2004 in Sydney, London and New York, While at Macquarie he led or was involved with a number of the bank’s landmark infrastructure transactions, working on the M2 Hills Motorway transaction, and the Eastern Distributor projects in Sydney, the establishment of the Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG) and MIG’s acquisition of Sydney’s M4 and M5 motorways.

Prior to Macquarie Bank, Nicholas spent four years with Westpac’s Project Finance Division in Sydney from 1988 to 1993 and was with Morgan Grenfell and a financial advisory business it acquired in Sydney from 1981 to 1988.

Nicholas is a member of the Transfield Holdings Advisory Board, the Novatec Solar Shareholder Committee and is a Director of Campus Living Funds Management Limited, the responsible entity for the Campus Living Villages Fund. He is also a Director of Gondwana Choirs, the national choral education program for young people.

He has a Bachelor of Commerce (with Merit) from the University of New South Wales.
