Roy worked for the Baillieu family for 30 years in various senior executive capacities. He was appointed Managing Director of the Baillieu Knight Frank Victorian operation in 1979, Chairman of Knight Frank Asia Pacific in 1990 and Group Managing Director of Knight Frank in 1996.
During his tenure as Group Managing Director of Knight Frank, Roy was responsible for a number of successful new business ventures that changed the shape of the Australian property industry as well as providing Knight Frank with strong revenue growth.
Roy became involved with Transfield Holdings through a joint venture in 2003, leading to the formation of Transfield Property Pty Ltd. In 2004 Roy led Transfield’s 50% acquisition of Charter Hall, which listed in 2005, raising $270m. He also oversaw Transfield’s acquisition of Campus Living Pty Ltd.
Roy is the Deputy Chairman of Charter Hall, a director of Campus Living, Director of Stephenson Mansell group, an executive development company, and Chairman of The National Recycling Group.
